Severnaya Verf Launches Third Fishing Trawler

31 july 2019

Severnaya Verf Shipyard (part of USC) has laid down the Project 170701 fishing trawler Captain Ostashkov, which will be built for Karelian Seafood JSC (part of the NOREBO Group). The vessel will be handed over to the customer in 2021.

A series of deep-sea factory trawlers is being built to concept design developed by Iceland’s Nautic design bureau. The developer of the as-built project documentation for the vessel and detailed design is Russia’s Nautic Rus. The trawlers are designed for fishing with bottom and pelagic trawls, complete fish processing and storage on board. A multifunctional fish factory installed on the trawlers will allow production of chilled fillet, minced meat, liver and fishmeal.

The series of the Project 170701 trawlers consists of ten vessels. The Federal Agency for Fisheries ( Rosrybolovstvo) has concluded investment agreements with the NOREBO Group companies that provide for the allocation of investment catch quotas for cod and haddock and the construction of six factory trawlers for the Northern Fisheries Basin.
